Summary, etc. Peripheral neuropathy is a disease that affects the nerves beyond the brain and spinal cord, known as peripheral nerves. Damage to these nerves causes a lack of sensation, movement, organ function, etc. It also depends on which nerves are damaged. Neuropathy affects the motor, sensory or automatic nerves. It is classified into mononeuropathy, polyneuropathy, mononeuritis multiplex, autonomic neuropathy and neuritis. Its symptoms depend on the types of nerve fiber affected. In the case of sensory function, symptoms include numbness, tremor, impairment of balance, tingling, crawling, pain, etc. Motor symptoms include weakness, tiredness, muscle atrophy or twitch and cramps. Some of its primary causes include genetic diseases, vitamin deficiency, effects of chemotherapy, and metabolic and endocrine diseases.
